Gol gappa (also known as pani puri) is a popular bite-size chaat consisting of a hollow, crispy-fried puffed ball that is filled with potato, chickpeas, onions, spices, and flavoured water, usually tamarind or mint, and popped into one's mouth whole. In ancient India, golgappe were invented as a result of the popularity of legend of Magadhan empire (west Bihar). The culinary skills of the Magadhan empire were developing at a rapid pace; stories about golgappe being invented in ancient India were quite popular.
